FAQ's - Your Questions Answered

Here at re Hair Studios we get so many queries on hair care and styling from our clients we thought It would be a good idea to publish some of the more frequently asked questions here on our website, alongside with the answers.

Q : "After my 50th birthday I decided to grow out my colour. I now have a salt and pepper look which I like but my white hair looks a little yellowy and slightly dirty. Is there anything I can do?"

A : This is a common problem with white hair due to pollution, product build-up and smoking. We would recommend using one of Redsken's injection colour charged conditioners in platinum which neutralises the yellow and keeps hair in great condition.

Q : "Although I treat my naturally curly coloured hair to weekly conditioning it still looks dull and feels dry. How can I get gloss and shine?"

.A : Curls ar never as shiny as straight hair because the cuticles twist and turn and do not reflect light as well. Use Redken all soft shampoo and conditioner which contains advocado oil to give hair ultra soft manageability and style. There is also weekly treat, heavy cream which has maximum conditioning for dry and brittle hair. When finishing, use Redken glass and lush whip to separate and define curls without being heavy or greasy.

Q : "Can you please tell me what's the best way to maintain my shade in between colour appointments at my hair salon?"

A : Always use a shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair, such as colour extend shampoo and conditioners which contain sunscreens to help with UV protection. Make sure they also contain the anti oxidant, vitamin E to preserve the colour. theis will leave your hair shiny and prevent fading.

Q :  "I love to wear my my hair straight but it's quite frizzy from over bleaching and seems to take ages to style. Do you have any quick tips?"

A : An intensive conditioning treatment once a week such as GHD indulgence treatment which you can leave on between 5 and 30 minutes depending on how much time you have. It is also advisable to get a good trim every six weeks. To straighten your hair with minimum damage we recommend iron oil by GHD which protects your hair up to 400 degrees. This will also help reduce static.

Q : "I've been dying my hair for about a year with a home kit but my colour looks terrible. Not only do I have build-up of colour on the ends, my roots seem to come through very quickly. Help."

A : Each time re-growth is coloured the dye is also getting on to the ends of your hair which causes a build-up and problems with the condition. Ask one of our stylists to colour your roots only then work on improving the condition using extreme shampoo and extreme conditioner to strengthen your hair. Once in better condition, your hair colour will be more even.

Q : "My hair always looks dull. I had highlights put in a few weeks ago but they seem to have dulled down now. Can you suggest something?"

A : Overloading with styling products can contribute to dull highlights. You can easily solve this with a cleansing shampoo such as DSM shampoo and conditioner from ghd which removes toxins and leaves hair brighter and fresher.

Q : "My hair's fine so I'm always trying products to add thickness, but none have worked. I've even tried back combing but I'm worried it will cause damage. Can you help?"

A : We have a range of products to use for fine hair including the lightweight headstrong range which is a shampoo lightweight conditioner and styling treatment which targets the roots of fine hair with a "shot" of clean airy volume and healthy shine. This range contains sucro polymers to boost support, ceramide for cuticle re-inforcement and proteins to strenghthen your hair.
